MY 9 GRADE PROJECTS

Half-Portrait

Picture
This project is about cutting half of a picture of yourself and then drawing the other have of your face that has not been cut. This project requires of lots of shading and looking for details because every detail in your face counts. You need to observe very closely. Furthermore, in order to make your face better it has to have all the details of your face. In addition, the materials for this project are: scissors, a camera, a picture, a pencil, a cardboard or paper and an eraser. The goal of this project was to apply the facial proportions that we learned in class to make your own face by cutting in half a picture of you and drawing it.

Even though, this project was a new way of learning to draw face, it was hard. My weaknesses in this project was the details because my face has lot of detail and in order to do a good work you need to observe the detail and draw them. Therefore, it was hard to draw them; also it was hard to make it symmetrical and to match the other part of the face like the lip. I had a hard time doing the lip because when I draw it I couldn’t make it match with the other half of the lip. In addition, drawing the eye was hard because that was the part of the face that had more details and for me drawing very detailed was hard so I have a difficult time drawing the eye. On the other hand, my strengths were doing the shades and drawing the outside of the face because the outside of the face wasn’t as much detailed as the eyes or the nose or the lips. Also it was easy to draw the sweater. Applying the shades was easy because I had had more practice doing it since in six grades I did a project in which I need shade it. Also in eight grades I did a project that I need to add shades.

Symbolic Map

Picture
This project is about making a map with symbols that symbolizes your life. In this project you need to create symbols and put them in a map. Therefore, those symbols represent your actions during your life and your hobbies. Furthermore, you need to write a map key and a unique compose rose. The key has to have the symbols and next to them is the explanation for the symbols in your map. The goal of this project was to apply the techniques of painting that we learn in class and get better at. Also to apply the symbolism notes that we learned in class like allegory and learn those terms by making this project. The materials that I used in this project were: markers, colors pencils, pencils, paint and a cardboard.
In this project my weaknesses were the painting because I had not have a lot of practice using paint because usually in all my artwork I use color pencils or markers but never paint. Therefore, it was difficult because of lack of practice. Especially when I was painting little things because I needed a little brush and sometimes I did not found it so it was very difficult. The compasses rose was the hardest thing to paint because it had lots of detail and small things because it was a lion. On the other hand, my strengths were creating the symbols because I have had a lot of experiences during my life so it was easy fro me to come up with symbols that represent my actions, my life and my dreams. Also it was not difficult to draw the symbols because I have had a lot of practice drawing since all my artwork I have to draw.

Figures and Shadowing Project

Picture
This project is about making several lines in a paper and making figures. Therefore, then painting them using different techniques learn in class like painting a figure were in the bottom you start dark and as you go painting it becomes litter so it has shades. Also we use different techniques fro shading like cross hatching, pointillism, and gradation. The goal of this project was to learn to apply the techniques of shading in different figures. The techniques were cross-hatching, pointillism and gradation. The materials that I use for this project were: a cardboard, pencil, color pencils and markers.

In this project my weaknesses was to apply the shading technique gradation in different figures because you needed to start really dark and then come more litter when you paint the figure so it had the idea that light was hitting the figure and it give shading. It was really difficult because I hadn’t use ever that technique and it was more complex and complicated than the others. On the other hand, my strengths was applying the techniques of cross-hatching and pointillism because in second grade a did one project using pointillism so I have had more practice on it. Also they were simpler.
